Halima was referred onto the BBO Progress programme in April 2017, after some challenges with her course. Halima had set herself targets with her Progress on developing her CV and interview techniques, completing a Sports Leadership qualification, gaining a level 2 in her Maths (equivalent to A-C in GCSE) as well as gain an apprenticeship in the NHS.
Over the course of the programme Halima has worked with a number of young people, on activities which are work related sessions such as attending workshops and support offered by the Job Shop, healthy cooking programmes with Groundwork West Midlands “Cook and Eat well”, Youth Employability modules and functional skills.
Halima worked on developing her Employability skills such as communication, leadership and organisation whilst on PYF sessions, she has also worked with Voluntary Action Coventry in finding a suitable placement in the NHS.
Halima has now completed her journey on the BBO Progress project, which started in April 2017, she feels that she has gained more experience and confidence in meeting new people, and the introduction to the Prince’s Trust programme has given her that vital push to meet her goals.
She plans to become a Nurse either at the Accident and Emergency department or a Dental Nurse via an apprenticeship.
Progress is funded by the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund.
